Dr. Clyde Smith
When Dr. Clyde Smith founded Medical Specialty Clinic in 1979, he was one of Jackson's first subspecialists. He is a medical graduate of the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis. His post graduate fellowships also were at UT. He is a board-certified hematologist/hospice/ palliative care physician. Medical director of Hospice of West Tennessee, Dr. Smith has special interests in palliative medicine and stem cell transplants.


Dr. Justin Baker
Dr. Baker is board eligible in oncology and hematology. He is a medical graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. His residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology and oncology were at the University of Mississippi Medical Center/V.A. Medical Center. Dr. Baker and his wife, Angie, have three children.


Dr. Archie Wright
Dr. Wright is a medical graduate of the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. His internal medicine residency and a three-year fellowship in oncology and hematology were at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was chief resident in internal medicine and he is board certified in internal medicine. During his fellowship, Dr. Wright also was a physician in the emergency room at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Wright and his wife, Tanya, have two children, a daughter, Caitlin, and a son, Aidan.


Dr. Brian Walker
Dr. Walker is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The faculty there awarded him the 2006 Spencer L. Schreiter Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Walker is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American Society of Hematology, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.

Cookbook benefits Hospice

“Cooking Up Something Special,” a cookbook printed by Medical Specialty Clinic, is dedicated to Dr. Clyde Smith. Proceeds will be donated to Hospice of West Tennessee.

“We wanted to honor Dr. Smith in some way,” said Sandy Morris, clinic administrator. “For nearly 30 years he has treated patients in this community. He is a caring and dedicated physician.”

An oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Smith helped to found Medical Specialty Clinic in 1979. He has been medical director of Hospice since 1989.

The spiral-bound cookbook is filled with hundreds of recipes from the staff, patients and friends of the clinic and costs $12. Copies are for sale at the clinic, 27 Medical Center Drive, or by calling Tammy Legions at the clinic, 731-424-1001 or 800-221-9603.
