The Plastic Surgery Clinic of Jackson offers many cosmetic procedures and cosmetic surgery to help you feel and look younger.
“Cosmetic improvements have become a well accepted trend,” says Dr. Marshall Yellen, who is board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. “Many people simply want to improve their looks.” His medical practice at the Plastic Surgery Clinic combines both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
These days, people have many options for improving skin, getting rid of excess wrinkles and fat, and fixing other cosmetic problems.
As a plastic surgeon and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), Dr. Yellen has the training and experience to treat the whole range of cosmetic problems. He follows strict ASPS guidelines to ensure the safety of the patient.
Working with Dr. Yellen are his wife, Patti Yellen, and Bambi LaFont, both registered nurses, who have received extra training in aesthetics.
Patients who go to the Plastic Surgery Clinic have the assurance that their care is in the hands of experienced professionals, Dr. Yellen says.
Some of the cosmetic services offered by the Plastic Surgery Center include…
- Laser treatment for the removal of unwanted hair. The FDA-approved LightSheer laser is the gold standard for permanent hair reduction on all skin types, Dr. Yellen says.
- Laser treatment to remove spider veins.
- Laser treatment to repair and rejuvenate sun-damaged skin, such as brown spots, and remove a variety of other benign skin imperfections even freckles on a bald head. Patients usually have four to six treatment sessions, depending on the number of conditions being treated. The new laser treatment has virtually no side effects, such as skin peeling, and little down time for the patient, Dr. Yellen says, making this procedure popular for patients. Though it works best on lighter skin, laser treatments are customized to a patient’s skin type.
- Chemical peels and micro dermabrasion to remove fine lines and other skin problems.
- Laser resurfacing to remove acne scarring and deeper lines and wrinkles, such as the lines around the mouth caused by smoking. This treatment is more invasive than that used to repair sun-damaged skin. Skin will be red and peeling for seven to 10 days; redness goes away in about four weeks.
- Botox cosmetic injections to remove fine wrinkles around the eyes and forehead.
- Dermal fillers for such things as plumping up lips and temporarily smoothing out and correcting wrinkles.
- The clinic also offers Obagi skin care restoration, which can be used at home for all skin types. Obagi products, combined with Retina A, improve skin discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles. The Obagi Blue Peel, which acts like a chemical peel, will be available in August.
Dr. Yellen also provides a variety of breast and body contouring surgery, including breast augmentation, breast lifts, tummy tucks (abdominoplasty), rhinoplasty (nose), liposuction of areas not improved with weight loss, facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid surgery.
People like to look younger, Dr. Yellen says. “Some improvements can be made with minimally invasive techniques; others will require surgery.”
Patients interested in cosmetic improvements should talk to their plastic surgeon to find out what is best for them, he says.
For their own safety, the patient should ask about a physician’s credentials, he says. “Cosmetic surgery is extremely safe when it is performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon for a medically healthy patient at an accredited outpatient facility."
