Bone & Joint grows with community

Tom Johnson, director of Physical Therapy, works with patient Lisa Harston in the expanded Physical Therapy and Rehab Department at West Tennessee Bone & Joint Clinic.
From its new pediatric x-ray room to its larger rehab unit, West Tennessee Bone & Joint Clinic is expanding to meet the needs of its patients.

“Because the community is growing, we’re able to grow with it,” says Donna Klutts, the clinic’s practice administrator. The clinic’s expansion is aimed at providing a higher level of convenience for its patients, she says. “Improvements include much-needed space for the Physical Therapy and Rehab Department, an in-house MRI, additional x-ray and patient rooms, and expansion of the lobby.”

The clinic’s eight board-certified orthopedic surgeons are Dr. Lowell Stonecipher, Dr. Michael Cobb, Dr. David Johnson, Dr. Kelly Pucek, Dr. Harold “Trey” Antwine III, Dr. David Pearce, Dr. John Ever-ett and Dr. Jason Hutchison.

The physicians are able to schedule patients for x-rays, physical therapy or even an MRI and have immediate access to the results and progress because it is all done on site. “Better patient care is undeniable,” says Klutts.

The clinic also has an x-ray room exclusively designed for children with a jungle-themed mural on the wall. The MRI room contains large window openings to the outside and stereo headphones – all designed for a patient’s comfort.

The Physical Therapy and Rehab Department has more than quadrupled its space. “We have a state-of-the-art rehab facility,” says Tom Johnson, director of physical therapy. “We’re designed to work with a wide variety of patients, from geriatrics to young athletes.” The department has extended hours to accommodate patients before and after work. “Life’s busy,” says Johnson. “We do it to better serve our patients.”

Though the clinic has expanded its facility and equipment, Klutts is adamant about the root of the clinic’s success. “Our biggest asset,” she says, “is the knowledgeable, experienced and compassionate providers and dedicated employees.”

Besides its eight orthopedic surgeons, the clinic has a staff of more than 70 people, who include x-ray technicians certified to work in orthopedics, licensed physical therapists and an experienced nursing staff with orthopedic surgery experience. “Some of our staff have been with us for the 33 years – since the clinic was founded,” says Klutts.

“It’s truly the staff and physicians that make the clinic,” Klutts explains. “You can put as much equipment and add on as much as you want, but patient care and the courteous staff define our success.”

The clinic continues to grow as it begins a search for another orthopedic surgeon. “We’re here to support the need for quality orthopedic services the people and businesses in the West Tennessee area demand,” says Klutts.
